A$AP Rocky admits he "makes a lot of mistakes".
The 24-year-old rapper recently performed at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York City.
He says it felt like a "homecoming" and is aware his younger fans may look to him as a role model.
"I don't consider myself to be a role model because I'm not perfect. I make a lot of mistakes. I make more than a lot [of mistakes]... I really enjoy the fact that I'm free to be and do what I want," he told the New York Daily News.
But mistakes aside, he also wants to reach out with a positive influence on the younger generation.
As a successful rapper working in the cutthroat music industry, he wants his art to inspire.
"I would hope that the kids who look up to me get influenced by the positive things that I do. I just want to inspire as far as art and expression.
"I want to show the kids how to express themselves freely. Feel free to express yourself. Be yourself," he urged.
He also expressed his respect for the opposite sex, an opinion he wasn't shy about sharing. He also hinted that his mother may be his biggest fan.
"I think I got a lot of respect for women. We wouldn't be here without women... I feel like you need women to survive.
"I love my mom. She loves coming to concerts," he admitted.
