The Official Charts Company has confirmed that Avenged Sevenfold scored their first ever Number 1 album in the UK yesterday with "Hail To The King". Despite some strong competition from Naughty Boy, Franz Ferdinand and Bob Dylan, the Orange County band raced ahead to take the top spot.
Zacky Vengeance from the band said "It has been a hell of a ride thus far and having our first Number 1 album in the UK is a monumental achievement for our fans and us. I remember playing the 100 club to prove to our fans we were willing to start from the ground up again to earn your respect. Thank you for putting heavy metal back on the throne. We look forward to growing old with you."
Hail to The King is A7X's sixth studio album whose title track has already notched up over 5.5 MILLION views so far.
The band played a free show for their fans at Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles last Monday, and will be touring the UK in Nov/Dec, which includes a show at Wembley Arena.

They have also hooked up with MACHINIMA for a six-episode animated series, which tells the fictional story of the Death Bat – the band's longtime trademark. It will air later this year on Happy Hour's YouTube channel.
