Avril Lavigne says finding fame has been a "trippy" experience.
The Canadian star hit the music scene with catchy track Complicated when she was just 17 years old.
At the age of 28 she is still going strong, working on her fifth album and releasing new single Here's to Never Growing Up.
"Yeah, I've learned a lot, been around the world a couple of times and this is my fifth album," she explained to Australian radio show hosts Kyle and Jackie O.
"It's not like I'm the same person. I have experienced everything my career has to offer. It's trippy; this is a dream come true!"
Avril's new song was written in collaboration with her fiancé Chad Kroeger, of Nickelback fame.
The star let fans in on the motivation behind the track.
"It's a fun song! It's kind of like a summer song and it's about being young being young at heart and having a good time; it's feel-good!" she smiled.
Avril and Chad got engaged in August last year and the pretty popstar has already promised it will be a huge wedding.
The pair bonded over their shared love of music.
"He's a great guy, he's Canadian [too]," she gushed.
"We met in the studio we got together to write some songs and so, you know, we were friends and it kind of went from there! [Writing songs together] is so romantic."
