Avril Lavigne: Manson inspired shaved head

Marilyn Manson motivated Avril Lavigne to shave her head.

The Canadian crooner's bold hairdo follows in the footsteps of celebrities such as Rihanna, Cassie and Alice Dellal.

Avril admitted the rocker's sense of style pushed her to getting the drastic hairstyle while she was working with him last year.

"I had wanted to shave the side of my head for quite some time, and I used to put it in a braid there [side of her head] and so it was kind of like shaving it," she told MTV News. "And then one night, it was on my adventure to France.

During my adventure when I was living there, we were hanging out backstage and we were with his band having a few drinks and I was like, 'Let's shave my head. I'm ready; let's do this!'"

Avril confessed that Marilyn's wacky fashion sense and generally controversial appearance is why she knew he was likely to help.

She especially likes his confident approach to donning quirky clothing.

"He's like that, though," she continued. "He has fun. He wears his makeup; his wardrobe is very visual. I like his style."
The pair collaborated on her upcoming fifth studio album, due in September.

She revealed that teaming up with Marilyn was completely unplanned.

"It was last minute," she said about her track Bad Girl. "I was sitting there at the board thinking Manson would be perfect on this track, so I texted him, and he's like, 'I'll come over and I'll hear it.' So he came at 4 o'clock in the morning. ... Yes, it was one of those nights."

She first met him at one of his gigs when she was just 18.

Avril also worked with her Nickelback singer fiancé Chad Kroeger on her forthcoming LP.
