The city where Beach Boys grew up is dedicating a monument in their honour -- at the end of a dead-end street next to a traffic light.
That's as close as the city of Hawthorne, California, can get to the site of the house where Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson grew up. It was demolished years ago to make way for the Century Freeway. The Beach Boys Landmark Project has solicited designs for the monument and narrowed it down to 16. Most of them feature images of surfboards, waves or musical notes. The dedication has been set for May 20th.
