The Beach Boys have been rehearsing and recording together for the first time in years and are ready to unveil the fruits of their labor this Sunday on the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.
Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks will play together for the first time in two decades during the broadcast, joined by current artists Foster the People and Maroon 5.
Wilson, Love and Jardine were original members of the band, along with Dennis and Carl Wilson, when they formed in 1961. Marks joined the group in 1962 when he was 13 to replace Jardine who returned to college but was only in the band a year until Al returned. Johnston joined on April 9, 1965 as a replacement for Glen Campbell who had earlier come in for Brian Wilson who was concentrating on songwriting and production.
The group will be touring during the summer with the first date (at this time) scheduled for April 27 in New Orleans.
Foster The People are nominated in Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Pumped Up Kicks and Best Alternative Music Album for Torches. Maroon 5 are up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Moves Like Jagger (with Christina Aguilera).
