Beastie Boys album scheduled for summer 2004

The still to be named follow-up has been over a year in gestation. It will be a pure hip hop album featuring very few live musical instruments.

“There are some live instruments here and there but most of it is programmed,” said Adam Yauch on the band's website. “For now I think that we are just going to do hip hop shows, turntables and mics. It's kind of nice to keep it simple for a minute. But I'm sure that we will get back into playing instruments again in the near future.”

Beastie Boys have confirmed that they will be playing Japan's Summer Sonic Festival! in Tokyo on 7 and 8 August and plans are being drawn up for the trio to tour North America and Europe later in the year.

The first single from the new album will be serviced to radio later this month.
