The Beastie Boys member Michael 'Mike D' Diamond has revealed that the band are likely to continue making music - but in a new 'band format'.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Diamond reveals that he could see himself and Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz making more music together - and that the Beastie Boys had recorded new music as a three-piece before the death of Adam 'MCA' Yauch.
"I can see us making music," said Diamond. "I don't know about a band format. But Yauch would genuinely want us to try whatever crazy thing we wanted but never got around to."
Speaking of new Beastie Boys material, he also revealed that Yauch had been behind recordings made in 2011 - despite struggling due to cancer treatment.
"Adam instigated it. It could only come from him, in terms of where he was at with his cancer treatment," said Diamond. "He wasn’t sure he was able to do vocals but after a bit we ended up doing them. It was a way for him to say, 'Yeah, I'm doing it'."
