It has been a long and winding road but The Beatles may soon come together with iTunes. Apple is expected to announce tomorrow that it has finally signed The Beatles for iTunes downloads.
The front page of iTunes has the statement 'Tomorrow is just another day that you'll never forget. Check back here tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes'.
The Beatles catalogue has been a difficult catch for Apple even though the complete works for the four solo Beatles is available through iTunes. It has taken 9 years for Apple to come to an agreement with Apple (The Beatles record label). In 2007, a trademark dispute was settled between the two companies over the use of Apple's name being associated with music.
When the solo albums made their way to iTunes, it was only a matter of time before the cash-cow catalogue came along as well. In preparation, The Beatles remastered the entire back-catalogue and released the remasters later last year.
The Beatles has been the big hole in the iTunes catalogue. AC/DC and Kid Rock are two other major acts still avoiding the Apple download platform.
