Belle and Sebastian have been voted the best Scottish band of all time in a public poll.
They beat off the likes of Travis and Idlewild, who finished second and third, and the likes of Franz Ferdinand who came 15th and Eurythmics who wound up at a lowly 38, at a party in Glasgow last night.
Primal Scream also made it into the list at Number Nine while Scottish based Snow Patrol finished 14th.
Scottish magazine The List compiled a list of the best 50 bands which the public voted for over a three month period. Over 12,000 votes poured in for the poll.
Belle and Sebastian singer Stuart Murdoch said: “We didn't think for a moment that we are the best band in Scotland, but we are thrilled to be on a list with some of our favourite artists like Teenage Fanclub, and the Cocteau Twins.â€
