Biffy Clyro fans have been left divided after this year’s X Factor winner released a cover of one of the band's songs as a single.
Matt Cardle’s take on ‘Many Of Horror’, retitled ‘When We Collide’, has been tipped to secure the Christmas number one spot.
Reacting to a comment piece on the Gigwise blog, many fans expressed their sadness over the cover.
One commenter said: “[Biffy Clyro] didn't need to do this. Already got success with the last two albums.”
They added: “It's not all about the money, it's meant to be about the music.”
Bill claimed the Scottish band had “sold out”, while another fan claimed it would just be the start of a series of sponsorship deals.
But DL defended the Biffy Clyro and X Factor mogul Simon Cowell.
“He's just a businessman - he's not going to destroy the music scene however many X Factor's he runs,” they said.
“Some people like it, some people don't. End of. And Biffy haven't necessarily agreed to this it must be added - but they definitely get the royalties.”
