Billy Joel set the record last July for the most shows by a single artist at Madison Square Garden with performance number 64.
On December 17, that total will hit 81 when he once again takes the stage for his monthly "residency" at the venue. That will give the entertainer 36 straight months at MSG.
Joel has proven himself to be one of the biggest entertainers of all-time with the long running series, one that he said he would continue as long as there was a demand for tickets. Every show still sells out so it looks like he won't be quitting anytime soon.
According to Billboard, through 26 monthly shows, Joel has grossed $54,514,204 with 485,651 tickets sold.
What is even more amazing about the series is that Joel rests solely on decades old material. It has been over two decades since he released an album of new pop material (River of Dreams (1993)) with his only output being the 2001 classical album Fantasies & Delusions.
Tickets for the December 17 show go on sale Monday (March 21) for Citi cardholders and on Friday, March 25 for the general public.
