The 49-year-old country star filed for divorce against wife Tish on Tuesday after 17 years of marriage.
citing 'irreconcilable difference' for their relationship's breakdown. The divorce papers also said that Cyrus would be seeking to share the care, custody, and control of their three children. Aside from Miley, 17, Braison, 16, and Noah, 10, the pair also has three older children from previous relationships.
Cyrus also asked the court to equitably divide the marital estate. After filing the papers in Tennessee, the Achy Breaky Heart singer posted religious lines from Psalm 91 on his Twitter page, People magazine reported.
'He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you shall take refuge,' he said. 'Truth will be your shield and buckler.'
In a separate post, he added, 'Can I ask for your prayers this morning for my children...our troops...the hungry...the sick...the homeless. AMEN.'
