Black Sabbath scored the ultimate product placement this week with a cameo appearance on the season finale of 'C.S.I.', along with a couple of featured songs from the new album '13' and a blatant plug for the release of '13'. It was a brilliant marketing move.
Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and new drummer Tommy Clueftos (credited as Thomas D. Cluefetos Jr) appear in the opening moments of the 'C.S.I.' season finale 'Skin In The Game'.
Ozzy even gets a speaking role (well, lets be honest, it is a mumbling role). "The album's kind of like a modern sound, (mumble, mumble, mumble). It's still got the Black Sabbath vibe, you know," he tells the faux music journalist who then magically becomes some sort of magic CSI advisor immediately after interviewing Ozzy.
"So nice to see Black Sabbath again. Saw them in '78 at the Spectrum in Philly," says Sherriff Conrad Ecklie (Marc Vann).
"Around the same time I saw the Dead at the Winterland Ballroom. A little bit of a different vibe," responds C.S.I Russell (Ted Danson).
Black Sabbath are seen performing the opening track of the '13' album 'The End Of The Beginning' at the start of the show. The single 'God Is Dead?' is played as part of the soundtrack later in the episode.
Black Sabbath '13' will be released on June 7 in Australia, June 10 in Europe and June 11 in North America.
