Black Sabbath were set to headline this year's Coachella Festival before Tony Iommi was diagnosed with cancer, it has been reported.
The guitarist, aged 63, revealed to fans on January 8 that he has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma.
According to Billboard the newly reformed band were set to perform at the festival before they embarked on their world wide tour.
The band have released a statement on their official Facebook: "With the news that Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan. The Iron Man of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery."
It continues: "This comes as Black Sabbath are writing and recording in Los Angeles with producer Rick Rubin. They will now go to the UK to continue to work with Tony."
Radiohead, Pulp and the reformed At AT The Drive -In have all been confirmed for Coachella festival 2012.
The Black Keys, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Florence and The Machine, The Shins and Hives will also perform.
