The past 50 years has seen pop culture embrace and celebrate a multitude of iconic artists and seminal tracks. Each generation has been shaped and influenced by key musicians, who have cut through the mould, set standards, captured the spirit of their time and earned their places in history.
Kicking off the campaign is a bold take on one of Bob Dylan's most revered tracks, by South African Singer Songwriter Farryl Purkiss. Cited as one of the most acerbic put downs ever committed to vinyl, 'Positively 4th Street' was originally released as a single by Dylan in 1965. Recorded during the 'Highway 61 Revisited' sessions, the track is generally assumed to be an attack on Greenwich Village's Folk community, who had recently shunned Dylan, accusing him of 'selling out' for using electric guitars on his songs. The 4th Street to which Dylan refers in the song is a subject of some debate but what is clear, is that you should never get on his wrong side.
