Bow Wow Wow were around officially for just three short years from 1980 to 1983, recording three albums (one of which was cassette only) and scoring a number of international hits including I Want Candy, Go Wild in the Country and Do You Wanna Hold Me?
For the first time in almost thirty years, the group will tour the U.K., starting April 19 in Southampton and ending May 2 in Bristol. The band will be made up of original members Annabella Lwin and bassist Lee Gorman; however, no guitarist or drummer has been named. Original member Matthew Ashman passed away in 1995 from complications of diabetes.
The group was originally made up of Ashman, Gorman and drummer David Barbarossa who were, at the time, the Ants of Adam and the Ants. Under the guidance of Malcolm McLaren, they went on a six-month search for a lead singer that led to Lwin who was just 14 at the time.
Since their breakup in 1983, Lwin and Gorman embarked on one tour, the 1997/98 Barking Mad shows around the U.S. They also played single shows in 2003, 2006 and, on November 21, 2010 with a tribute concert to Ashman that also included original drummer Barbarossa.
