Bret Michaels has had his share of medical problems in recent years and has gained a unique perspective on the medical profession.
Michaels, a diabetes advocate, will share his experiences in the health care field for non-profit organisation Diversity Alliance for Science, Inc.
Bret was diagnosed a diabetic when he was 6. In 2011 within a matter of weeks he suffered a brain haemorrhage, a stroke, an emergency appendectomy and was diagnosed with a hole in the heart. He now serves as the spokesperson for National Diabetes Month and is an active supporter of many health organisations.
He was been honoured with the American Diabetes Association's Chair's Citation Award for excellence for raising awareness and funds for the organisation.
Bret Michaels will speak at the conference in Newark, New Jersey on May 22.
