Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has done the unthinkable and criticised Glastonbury - calling it "the most bourgeois thing on the planet".
Speaking to The Telegraph, the singer also took shots at Gwyneth Paltrow and the middle class mentality of the legendary Somerset festival. "In the days when Glasto was an alternative festival it was quite interesting," he commented.
"Now it’s the most bourgeois thing on the planet. Anywhere Gwyneth Paltrow goes and you can live in an air-conditioned yurt is not for me." Ouch. Whilst Bruce does have a point, couldn't he have left Gwyneth out of it? The poor woman's going through a conscious uncoupling, FFS.
Dickinson then added he was much happier to be playing Sonisphere rather than Glastonbury, thank you very much. "We’ll leave the middle classes to do Glastonbury and the rest of the great unwashed will decamp to Knebworth and drink lot of beer and have fun," he declared.
For those who are going to risk the wrath of bumping into health-conscious A-list actresses and upmarket smoothie stands, Glastonbury kicks off in one short week. Arcade Fire, Metallica and Kasabian are topping the bill at Worthy Farm.
