The glamour model herself had started dancing from the age of five, excelling in ballet and tap before becoming a backing dancer for superstar Prince.
With her impressive entertainment background, the 39-year-old was well qualified to judge season 8's final 14 contestants - seven males and seven females - who showed off their skills on Wednesday night.
Carmen, who joined fellow panel members Mary Murphy, Nigel Lythgoe and Travis Wall, raved about double act Ryan Ramirez and Ricky Jaime's quirky, zombie-style routine.
'You guys rocked!' she said. 'I loved it, I thought it was hot. Keep it up!'
But the night's clear favourites were Caitlynn Lawson, from Washington state, and her partner Mitchell Kelly, from Atlanta.
The dream duo got a standing ovation for their romantic routine, performed to Celine Dion's To Love You More.
Carmen was also overwhelmed, adding, 'Dance is to be out of yourself - larger, more beautiful, more powerful.
The duos will find out who is eliminated in tonight's show (thurs).
