For its 22nd consecutive year, Club Skirts Presents The Dinah is once again bringing one of the biggest names in music to heat up the desert.
The sultry "Queen of Funk", R&B Diva, iconic music legend, Chaka Khan will headline Club Skirts' "The Dinah Goes To Rio" themed-soiree and monumental dance party on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Palm Springs' largest concert venue, The Convention Center (www.TheDinah.com).
In a special one-night only performance, the timeless singer/songwriter is exclusively bringing her full touring band to rock The Dinah - the biggest all-girl party & music festival in the world. The R&B Diva, understanding the caliber of The Dinah as a music festival elected to pull out the big guns to wow the stage with her classic signature hit anthems including: "Tell Me Something Good" (written by Stevie Wonder), "Ain't Nobody", "Through The Fire", "I'm Every Woman" (written by Ashford & Simpson with a then 15-year-old Whitney Houston singing background vocals) and the platinum seller international smash hit "I Feel For You" (written by Prince featuring memorable collaborations by Stevie Wonder on harmonica and the now iconic cult-classic distinctive triple-fast "Cha-ka Khan" rap by Melle Mel).

Yvette Marie Stevens, the petite high school student raised on Chicago's south side, attending Calumet High School and Kenwood Academy, changed her name to Chaka Khan when she went to work for the Black Panthers. She first arrived on the music scene in 1973, achieving breakout success as the lead singer for the multiple award-winning funk powerhouse Rufus.
Since then the leather-and-feathers '80s superstar, who has collaborated with some of the most outstanding music talents in the business such as Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, David Foster, Robert Palmer, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Steve Winwood, Gladys Knight, Phil Collins, Mary J. Blige and rapper 50 Cent, has to this day remained a top-selling solo performer and a first-class name drawing sold-out crowds.
Khan also used her fame to launch a charity, "The Chaka Khan Foundation", which provides help and education to children and young-adults victim of domestic violence, substance abuse, and autism.
