Christopher Nolan and Michael Bay are the frontrunners direct the Hollywood remake of The Twilight Zone.
Warner Bros. have approached both The Dark Knight Rises and Transformers helmers to take on the adaptation of the iconic 1950s fantasy horror series, according to Variety.
Nolan is the preffered choice, but is reluctant to take it on owing to similarities with his 2010 film Inception.
Bay is said to be very keen, but would back out if it meant that he couldn't make his passion project, bodybuilder comedy Pain and Gain.
The wishlist is also said to include Alfonso Cuaron, David Yates and Rupert Wyatt.
Leonardo DiCaprio will produce the film through his Appian Way company.
A biopic of Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling was announced in July.
