Christopher Nolan is planning to begin work on a supernatural thriller in the new year, according to reports.
The Inception director will produce the project for Warner Bros. through his company, Syncopy, Deadline says.
Nolan has already approached TV director and writer Keith Gordon to helm the project, having impressed on shows such as Dexter and The Killing.
Nolan has begun shooting The Dark Knight Rises, the third and final part of his Batman trilogy, with Christian Bale donning the black cape once more, and Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman.
He is also producing Zack Snyder's reboot Superman: Man of Steel, which sees British star Henry Cavill taking on the role of the Son of Krypton.
The project, based on an as-yet-unnamed book, will be a basic thriller with supernatural undertones.
The Dark Knight Rises is released on July 20, 2012.
