Scottish-born Colin Hay emigrated to Australia with his family when he was 14, and gained international fame as frontman and principal songwriter for the cult Australian band, Men at Work. They had a string of hits in the 80s, such as Down Under, Who Can It Be Now? and Overkill.
As the eighties gave way to the nineties, Hay continued to write and perform, parlaying his gifts as a performer and storyteller into such varied enterprises as a narrative television special and a one-man stage show entitled Colin Hay: Man at Work. His music made the migration from commercial radio to the world of film and television, gaining prominent placements in the hit television show Scrubs and the acclaimed film Garden State. "Having my music out there like that opened up a new younger audience to me," Hay explains, "which is fantastic."
An accomplished singer/songwriter, with a striking voice, deep and resonant, he has made 9 albums since leaving the Men at Work. His latest album 'American Sunshine' was released on August 24th.
Hay's natural rapport and banter flow's through an artillery of comedic storytelling and colloquial rapport in his live show.
He is as much a comedian as a singer-songwriter, armed with acoustic guitar, sparkling sweet licks and highland huskiness.
