Courtney Love says her relationship with her daughter is "really good", even though they haven't seen each other for three years.
The Hole rocker has 20-year-old Frances Bean with her late husband, Nirvana star Kurt Cobain.
In December 2009 Frances was put into her grandmother and aunt's care and awarded a temporary restraining order against her mother following allegations of "domestic violence".
Although the mother and daughter are getting along better now, they still haven't seen each other.
"I'm really good with my daughter now - we're e-mailing and tweeting," Courtney told Howard Stern on his radio show this morning, adding they haven't seen each other for three years.
The 48-year-old also termed the 2009 order "extreme" and suggested it was the team of legal representatives around Frances who encouraged her to go through with it.
The papers were originally sealed, although details were later unearthed by The Fix. In the sworn court documents, Frances claimed that her cat and dog were both killed due to her mother's hoarding and use of pills.
She alleged that her cat died when it got tangled up in fabric, trash and paperwork in the home while her pet pooch was killed after swallowing the troubled singer's pills.
Frances is engaged to musician Isaiah Silva, who Courtney has spoken to online but hasn't met.
"I don't want to get too into [Frances'] private stuff … she's really private," Courtney added.
The singer also touched upon the controversy she caused when she accused Kurt's bandmate Dave Grohl of "hitting on" her daughter. She made the comments on Twitter, with Frances later suggesting her mother should be banned from the social networking website and vehemently denying them.
Although Courtney apologised, she insists what she said was true.
"[I said sorry] because it was all public, but the reality is, Dave did say these dirty things," she insisted.
The star also claimed her daughter was offered the part of Bella Swan in the Twilight franchise, although she decided against taking it.
