Craig David sings version of Secret Love Song on Capital

Following on from Craig David's record deal announcement yesterday he popped into Capital London's Breakfast show to speak to Dave Berry about what made him get back into the studio, what he really wants from life and he also sings his version of Little Mix Ft. Jason Derulo Secret Love Song.

When speaking about why he picked this song he said: "I had heard it in the car and I thought this is a huge song – it is going to be a hit whatever happens but I was just like any cover I want to do I can't just do the same thing because it is a bit like I could sing it but if I can make it move in a different direction and especially because I love going out and playing and doing my TS5 shows so when I am playing out I want to be able to play out the cover rather than I just did a little acoustic thing. Oh no we are going to play this out. I want people hitting me back turning up to a ballad to a club in the weekend so that's the vibe"

Dave asked Craig if he was back in the UK in the UK for good: "I made a decision maybe a year and a half ago because you have that dream of calling home to your Mum and saying Mum I made it. I've got the sports car, I got the beautiful home and then there was a point that I am getting into the sports car and I am just driving but going no where. I was like where are you actually driving this car to? Literally I was thinking am I doing this because I need someone to give me validation and say you got a cool car, you got a nice home. What I recognised was actually what I really loved was just being in the studio and making music, what I really loved was getting instagram posts with people just going nuts to their weekend to a song that you have put out and thinking that's what I always loved. It was never in the car, it was never in the home."

They also chatted about what he really wanted in life with Craig saying: "The one thing that I have always loved and wanted was actually what I had in that small bedroom when I was back home – it is just making music. I realised I had to go as far as Miami, as far as the sports car, as far as the house to realise that actually I had what it was all the time. There was a trillion pound gift that was in a voice that I have and the ability to write a song and I was searching in all the wrong places and I think the song rise and fall probably summed up my career up to a year and a half ago."
