The Cranberries front woman - Dolores O'Riordan - was arrested in Ireland having allegedly assaulted a flight attendant during a flight from New York and headbutting a police officer who was attempting to arrest her.
According to an Aer Lingus spokesman "An incident took place on board flight EI110 en route from New York to Shannon today. The matter is being investigated by An Garda Síochána. As this is a security matter we will not comment any further."
Witnesses say that O'Riordan had an altercation with one of the flight attendants on the plane who was transported to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick for treatment of her injuries. The Irish Times reports that the attendant's foot was fractured when O'Riordan stomped on it.
Police met the plane on the runway at 5:30 AM Monday morning and boarded to arrest O'Riordan. During the course of the arrest, the singer allegedly spit on an officer and headbutted them. The officer did not require medical care.
O'Riordan was taken to the Limerick police station but has, since, been transported University Hospital for treatment. She remains in police custody.
