Monday night's "Dancing With the Stars" was reminiscent of this season's first week. Back on top was Katherine Jenkins, who was a judges' favorite early on. The opera singer earned a perfect 30/30 for her first dance, a paso doble, and she and partner Mark Ballas impressed the panel with what judge Bruno Tonioli called "vivid, lush artistry."
For her second dance, Jenkins danced freestyle (as did the other finalists), mixing the jive with the quickstep, and once again, the judges thought her dance was perfection. Carrie Ann Inaba called her routine "the dance of a champion." For her hard work, she was awarded another perfect score: 60/60
Here's how the rest fared:
William Levy and Cheryl Burke
The Latin soap star danced the cha-cha for the judges'-pick round. Tonioli — who selected the dance — jokingly told him in the rehearsal segment, "I know you've got a nice butt, but don't keep it under you." His words must have worked: The judges gave Levy a perfect score for the first round. His second dance — the freestyle round — was the salsa and the tango, performances of which scored very well for him during past weeks. Monday night's rendition was near perfect. Head judge Len Goodman said he thought the whole thing was too predictable. That said, it didn't fray them too much. He earned one point shy of a perfect score. 59/60
Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd
The NFL star and his professional partner took on the Argentine tango for their first dance, as chosen by Inaba. Goodman said he loved Driver's intensity, and the other judges thought his storytelling was moving. For the round, he scored 29/30. For the freestyle round, the Green Bay Packers wide receiver two-stepped to country music, a risk on the ballroom floor. Turns out, it was a smart move. Inaba actually jumped up on the table and proclaimed, "This is my favorite dance of the season!" Even Goodman — who normally doesn't care for gimmicks — said it was fantastic. They earned a perfect trio of 10's. 59/60
