The music mogul is gearing up to launch a much-hyped US version of the show, but in the meantime, a source told The Mirror that he wants to secure the loyalty of the two judges by upping their pay by around eight percent.
With Simon and fellow judge Cheryl Cole off to the states, that leaves two seats empty and Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger have all been suggested as possible replacements.
But the insider added that Simon and Cheryl will still play a big role in the show.
'There's no way they'll go off and forget about the UK show. Simon and Cheryl will be involved in some way during the UK series.'
