The pair was often touted as rivals but Dannii believes that as soon as the world learned of Kylie's breast cancer, the media 'realised that we loved each other'.
Talking to Marie Claire, she said, 'I'd be asked, 'How is your sister? How's it going for Kylie?' And I'd have to say, 'You'll have to ask her, I'm not here to give an interview for her. I can only tell you stuff about me.' I am very private about my sister.
'It's just unreal. One thing is your relationship with Kylie and what it is, another thing is what people think it is, and a third thing is what has always worked as a headline.
'Up until then, it had all been the feuding sisters, and it didn't matter how many times you said, 'We're loving sisters, we love each other' that never got printed.
'But when she had cancer they stopped writing it. They went, 'Ooooh, not so funny anymore, they do love each other', and they all realised, finally, that we are a private family.'
