The fashion designer and Australia’s Got Talent judge – who has one-year-old son Ethan with partner Kris Smith – turned 40 last month and said that she celebrated by raising her hem lines.
Asked how she coped with the milestone birthday, she told Now magazine, “Short skirts! For men it's usually Ferraris. I always used to be prudish but I thought, ‘No, I'm going to wear some bloody short dresses when I hit 40’.
“That is my midlife crisis - and I’m revelling in it.”
Despite being hailed a fashion icon, the Project D designer insisted that she can’t accept the title because she’s made some major faux pas before.
“I wasn’t born knowing what suits me. You go with trends because you think it’s ‘in', so time has been a great thing for me to work out what works,” she said.
“I never see myself like that. For me, a style icon is someone who’s always got it right. I don’t feel that’s me. But I’m starting to pull it together and feel more confident with it.”
