Danny Baker, Jamie Cullum and Nick Clegg were among the winners at this years Radio Academy Awards.
The event took place in London last night (12 May) and featured perhaps the strangest list of winners you are likely to see at an awards ceremony. Firstly Jamie Cullum beat Blur's Alex James to the Best Music Programme Award for his Radio 2 show after he moved from music to the world of presenting.
Radio 5 Live's Danny Baker atriumphed, managing to win the Speech Radio Personality of the Year Prize for the fourth time in a row. For music radio Amy Voce and Sam Pinkham from Gem 103 managed to pip Graham Norton and Chris Evans for the Personality of the Year award.
One of the much sought after plumb awards were won by 95.8's Lisa Snowden and Dave Berry. Unfortunately Nick Grimshaw failed to even make the shortlist for the award this year despite being the most prominent Radio 1 DJ.
Bizarrely Nick Clegg and Boris Johnson also got in on the fun for their LBC radio show, which organisers of the event praised for bringing pivotal news topics back to the airwaves.
So there you have it, the future of radio apparently lies in the hands of Dave Berry, Jamie Cullum, Nick Clegg and Boris Johnson.
