The 42-year-old singer revealed the band's latest album, Wasting Light, was recorded in his garage and said he hates all the new, modern techniques that are used to make bands' music sound better.
He said to UK newspaper The Sun: 'All that s*** ruins music these days. Drum machines work for pop artists but when it comes to rock 'n' roll - don't f*** with the human element.'
He added: 'I learnt to play the drums by listening to records. I had favourite drummers because of their inconsistencies. Modern production has robbed drummers of personalities and it really
** me off.'
