Dave Grohl has expressed his disdain for music talent shows, stating that he thinks he wouldn't get through the first round of The Voice or American Idol.
Speaking to Anderson Cooper on Sunday's episode of 60 Minutes (26 October), The Foo Fighters frontman argued that the shows overlook unique talent in favour of conformity.
"Who's to say they're not good or not? Imagine Bob Dylan standing there singing 'Blowin' in the Wind' in front of those judges," Grohl joked, "Sorry, it's a little nasally and a little flat. Next."
Grohl was appearing on the show to promote Sonic Highways, Foo Fighters' forthcoming eighth album, which is released next month.
Sonic Highways was recorded in eight different cities around The United States, and a documentary about the album's creation is set to air on HBO and The BBC later this month.
The album itself is released 10 November through RCA.
