As Spin reports, Dave Grohl made a surprise appearance at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville on Wednesday (7 May, 2014) evening to play an impomptu hour-long acoustic gig of Foo Fighters classics.
"My name's Dave Grohl. I'm a drummer," said Grohl, introducing 'Times LIke These'. He also performed 'Big Me', 'Friend of a Friend', 'My Hero', 'Skin and Bones', 'Wheels', 'Learn to Fly', 'Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners' and Everlong'. He then stuck around to have photos taken with fans.
No new material was played, but the whole show was filmed by a camera crew - which suggests the band are working on a film project to go along with their new album.
The band the band also came together on Monday night (5 May, 2014) for a secret show at Washington's 9:30 Club. Foo Fighters performed at a birthday party for Go-Go legend 'Big Tony' at the venue, where they reportedly smashed out a two-hour, 17 song set of greatest hits from their back catalogue. They did not play any new music. Stateside reports also reveal that Grohl climbed onto the bar during the band's secret show, continuing to play the guitar while knocking back a shot of Jaeger.
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters are currently hard at work on their new album at different iconic studios around the world. With Producer Butch Vig claiming that the album is 'halfway done'.
