Dave Grohl has spoken out about Foo Fighters' new album Sonic Highways after its artwork, release date and tracklist were confirmed.
The album is set for release on 8 November, and is the band's eighth album. To mark this number, they visited eight different cities and recorded one song in each. Sadly though, this means there are only eight songs on the album.
The group's tour of US cities is the subject of their forthcoming documentary, which is also called Sonic Highways and will air on NBC in the US.
Speaking of the album, Grohl said: "This album is instantly recognisable as a Foo Fighters record, but there's something deeper and more musical to it."
He added: "I think that these cities and these people influenced us to stretch out and explore new territory, without losing our ‘sound'."
The vinyl release of Sonic Highways also includes nine covers, eight of which are themed around of of the cities in which the album was recorded - but customers will only receive on of the nine covers at random.
