To Notice Such ThingsJon Lord, keyboard player and original member of Deep Purple, has revealed on his website that he is battling cancer.
I would like all my friends, followers, fans and fellow travelers to know that I am fighting cancer and will therefore be taking a break from performing while getting the treatment and cure.
I shall of course be continuing to write music ' in my world it just has to be part of the therapy ' and I fully expect to be back in good shape next year.
God bless and see you soon
Jon
May we also, at Jon's request, ask if everyone could please respect his need for privacy so that he can spend time with his family (and his music).
Thank you.
Lord was the first person recruited into a new band being formed by former Searchers drummer Chris Curtis and businessman Tony Edwards. Roundabout eventually became Deep Purple who took the rock world by storm in 1968 with their cover of Joe South's Hush. He was a member through the point where the group broke up in 1976 and was part of the reformed group from 1984 to 2002. Post-Deep Purple, he has worked as a composer, reaching the Classical charts in 2008 with Durham Concerto.
