Following the announcement of a collection of huge 2006 World Tour dates Depeche Mode have revealed news about their highly anticipated new album to be entitled ‘Playing The Angel'.
The new record, the band's first studio album since 2001's ‘Exciter' will be released on October 17 according to information given at a special album playback at Home House in London today (July 6).
Songs included on the record are, 'Sinner in Me', 'Suffer Well', 'John the Revelator', 'Macrovision', 'A Pain That I Used To Be' and 'I Want It All'.
The first single to be taken from the album will be 'Precious' which hits shops on October 3.
In addition the band recorded three other new songs with working titles of ‘Everything', ‘Martyr For Love' and ‘Free' â€" but it's not know whether these will appear on the record under those (or any other) names.
'Playing The Angel' was recorded in Sound Design Studio in Santa Barbara, New York's Stratosphere and London with elbow and Blur producer Ben Hillier, Richard Morris [The Grid] and sometime Ian Brown collaborator Dave McCracken.
As always with Depeche Mode the cover photography will be handled by Anton Corbijn.
As previously reported (see Depeche Mode Announce World Tour) the band announced details of three huge gigs in the UK next spring as part of a huge world tour. The UK leg begins at the Manchester Evening News Arena on March 30 and includes dates at the Birmingham NEC (March 31) and Wembley Arena (April 2 & 3).
