Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross were thrown a "farewell barbecue".
The newlyweds were married Sunday, August 31, in Greenwich, Connecticut, at the home of Diana Ross, the mother of the groom, E! News reports.
The day after the wedding, Diana threw the couple a "farewell barbecue", an insider told Page Six, adding the "lavish bohemian" themed event was "for close friends and family" and coordinated by events planner Brett Galley of Hollywood Pop.
Apparently, the bride was enjoying herself and excited over her new family while at the event. Ashlee was reportedly overheard at the barbecue saying, "she and Evan were 'meant to be' and, 'Diana is a wonderful mother,'" the insider gushed to Page Six.
At the ceremony the day before the Boyfriend singer's sister Jessica Simpson served as the maid of honour. There were a number of bridesmaids with CaCee Cobb among them. Ashlee was walked down the aisle by her five-and-a-half-year-old son, Bronx. The bride war Neil Lane Jewelry, according to E! News.
Diana was also involved in planning the nuptials.
"She's involved in all levels of my life. She's one of the most incredible mothers ever. She's involved in every piece of our wedding," Evan previously told E! News.
Ashlee announced her engagement to Evan in January on Twitter.
"My baby love and I are ENGAGED!!! Hallelujah Hawaii !!!!!" the Pieces of Me performer wrote while she and Evan were on vacation.
The Autobiography star was previously married to Bronx's father, Fall Out Boy frontman Pete Wentz, from 2008 to 2011.
