Dolly Parton has revealed people constantly ask if her husband really exists.
The country music superstar tied the knot with Carl Dean in 1966. Even though she is one of the biggest musicians in the world, Dolly manages to keep her relationship out of the public eye for decades. She admits that her low-profile romance has continued to attract attention, and she regularly has to confirm that she is married.
' know people ask, 'Does he exist?' all the time because he doesn't like to have his picture taken,' Dolly tells Q magazine. 'But there were photos in my book, plus he's all over the walls at Dollywood.'
A powerhouse country music singer, Dolly is the ultimate superstar. Performing, doing television appearances around the world and all the other duties that come with stardom are performed solely by her, as Carl prefers to stay home. But Dolly doesn't mind, in fact she prefers it.
'[My husband] doesn't do interviews or go to any of my functions,' Dolly added, 'But then I couldn't stand to be with anyone who was involved in entertainment.'
Marital life has been fulfilling for Dolly and Carl, as their disparate lifestyle and personalities complement each other.
'He's a homebody while I like to travel, I'm a gypsy,' says Dolly, 'But I come home and he loves to hear what I've done and I like to hear what he's done.'
