Ed Sheeran's name may have just been added to the A-list. The ginger-haired Brit has just been tapped to perform at the Grammy Awards on February 10 with music legend Elton John.
The + singer is up for Song of the Year for "The A Team." He tweeted about his excitement on Wednesday, writing, "Buzzing to announce i am going to be performing live on@TheGRAMMYs on Feb the 10th on @CBSTweet. Cannot wait!!"
Sheeran is the latest star to hit the Grammy stage with John. Back in 2001, Eminem filled in for Dido to perform "Stan" with the Rocket Man. Then, nearly ten years later, he appeared with Lady Gaga during her performance on the show where they mashed up "Speechless" and "Your Song."
Shortly after the Grammy nods were announced late last year, Sheeran opened up about the night he learned about his first-ever Grammy nomination. "I got kidnapped by the Wanted boys. They took me on their tour bus and I found out after six or seven beers, which for me, I'm a very cheap date. I can't really handle too many beers," he told. "So I was in a state anyway and, yeah, I just had loads of giggle fits."
Even if he doesn't win, he knows he'll take something home that night. He added, "I'm gonna get a Grammy tattoo if I win a Grammy. I'm gonna get one anyway — a nomination, man, it's the sh--."
Sheeran will join a number of other acts set to hit the stage next month. The Lumineers, Carrie Underwood and Jack White will all perform, and Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert are slated to perform together. Fun., fellow six-timers Mumford & Sons, five-time nominees the Black Keys and three-time nominees Rihanna and Taylor Swift have also been confirmed to perform. The show will air on CBS on February 10 with LL Cool J hosting.
