Edwyn Collins has emergency surgery

Edwyn Collins has undergone emergency surgery after the brain haemorrhage he suffered over a week ago.

The singer was hospitalised after a cerebral haemorrhage last Sunday (February 20) and doctors spent the week trying to stabilise his condition.

Collins' wife and manager Grace Maxwell confirmed that her husband had undergone surgery in a posting on his official website.

She wrote: “He has come through it as well as can be hoped for and is continuing to fight.”

Collins had told BBC 6Music's Roundtable programme two days before he was hospitalised that he had been feeling ill: “I suddenly got a horrible sense of vertigo, the room started spinning around and I started puking up,” he said.
