The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster would like to announce the dawning of a new era for the band... Andy Huxley has decided to leave due to a decrease in musical similarities; they will be joined by new guitarist Rich Fownes for the forthcoming System of a Down EU tour.
Andy says "The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are the greatest band in the UK and will become the greatest band in the world. I, meanwhile, have decided to pursue my chosen path as the greatest King Buzzo impersonator on earth."
Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster say "It has been an absolute pleasure being in a band with such an extraordinary guitar player who has donned so many incredible hairstyles. We've built a wonderful and enduring friendship and are all very proud of the music we created together. We wish him all the best for the future. We also welcome Rich into the band and are excited by the thought of fresh blood."
Rich Fownes says "It's like a dream come true to join Eighties Matchbox. The first show I'll play with them will be to 40 000 people at Superbock Festival in Lisbon, so I'm hoping the adrenalin will kick in and carry me through. I can't think of replacing Andy, more as starting afresh and helping the band become the best there is."
The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are about to embark on a five week tour of Europe and the UK at the personal invitation of System Of A Down (dates below). They have also been working on new material for their forthcoming album, for release later this year.
Guy McKnight says "As a band we're now of a far clearer musical intent and world dominating calibre. The more we progress with our band, the closer we come to realising our original intentions and ambitions. The new songs are the best music we've ever done and we'll be trying them out on the road later this month; we're pushing the boat out even further to a darker and very personal place, and sounding far more powerful than on the last two albums. We aspire to being a seminal band of the future."
