The first glimpse at the line-up for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace has been announced.
Taking place in June outside the Queen’s residence, the concert is set to see live performances from Elton John, Paul McCartney, Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Madness, Annie Lennox Jessie J and JLS.
The line-up for the event is still only 60% complete with more acts to still be announced. The concert to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be free but residents of the UK will have to win one of the 10,000 tickets available to attend the event.
Organizer of the event, Take That’s Gary Barlow has said: "It is going to be an amazing lineup of world-class artists coming together to play at one of the biggest and most exciting live music shows in recent years. I love the monarchy and love the Queen. I am just very excited about the whole event."
A ballot for British citizens to apply for tickets was opened on Tuesday morning , each person selected will be able to bring along a guest of an age 13 or above. The tickets will not be allocated on a first come first served basis so those applying nearer to the ballots closing date on March 3 will stand as much chance as winning a pair of tickets as those who applied on the opening day.
The last time such a concert was held at Buckingham Palace was for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 for Party At The Palace which also saw Paul McCartney perform to an extra one million people who swamped The Mall surrounding the Palace to watch and listen.
