Elton John and Madonna have each picked up a nomination in the Best Original Song from a Motion Picture category at the Golden Globes.
John's nomination is with lyricist Bernie Taupin on the song Hello Hello from the animated film Gnomeo and Juliet. The recorded version of the song features Elton with Lady Gaga.
Madonna is up for Masterpiece, the song she wrote for the movie W.E., which she also directed.
Also nominated for Best Original Song are The Keeper from the film Machine Gun Preacher, music and lyrics by Chris Cornell; Lay Your Head Down from the film i, music by Brian Byrne, lyrics by Glenn Close; and The Living Proof from the film The Help, music by Mary J. Blige, Thomas Newman and Harvey Mason, Jr., lyrics by Blige, Mason and Damon Thomas.
On the original score side, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will try to repeat with the score for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. They won last year for The Social Network. Also up are Ludovic Bource for The Artist, Abel Korzeniowski for W.E., Howard Shore for Hugo and John Williams for War Horse.
