The singer was the host of classic sketch show Saturday Night Live and pulled no punches in a series of hilarious skits.
In one sketch, he played himself as he spoke to the Royal Family about singing at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
“Unlike you, we haven’t forgotten where we came from,” said Prince Phillip, played by Bill Hader.
Discussing his role in the wedding, the Queen, played by Fred Armisen, said: “We know you play at everything we do, but don’t think you can half-ass it.”
The Royals then launched into his use of the song Candle in the Wind at the funeral of Princess Diana.
“You’re going to change the words to Candle in the Wind again? Boo-hoo,” mocked Prince Phillip.
“Careful, you freaks!” shouted back Sir Elton.
The Queen then added: “You know when I see a Candle in the Wind? When I light my farts!”
Sir Elton then called her a “mean old bitch”.
