Elton John and his partner David Furnish love their surrogate "like a sister."
The 65-year-old British singer and his beau welcomed their second son Elijah on January 11.
Elijah was delivered by the same woman who gave birth to his two-year-old brother Zachary and the siblings were conceived by the same egg donor.
Elton appreciates his surrogate immensely and considers her family.
"She is a wonderful, kind and loving woman, who we love like a sister," he told the UK edition of Hello! magazine.
"We have a very close bond with her and were in constant touch throughout the pregnancy. She has given us two amazing gifts and we in turn have a duty of care to her and are fiercely protective of her anonymity."
Elton is excited about his journey as a father.
He loves being a parent and is constantly enlightened by the experience.
"I have learned that a parent's capacity for love is endless," Elton shared.
"When another child is born, our depth of love just grows deeper and wider, so it was very emotional."
Elton's partner David also finds parenthood to be a transformative experience. "Throughout our lives we have both loved and been loved, but the love of a parent for his or her child is different to anything else, as all parents will know," David said.
"You find new depths of love, and experience pure joy."
Elijah was 8lbs. 4oz. when he was born via surrogate in Los Angeles.
