Overview
Elton John is getting one of the highest awards the US gives out.
John will be one of six honorees for the Kennedy Center Honors. The Kennedy Center chairman Stephen Scharzman calls John "a pop music icon who also composes stunning musical film and theater scores."
He will receive his award at a State Department dinner on December fourth. He'll also visit the White House and be honored at a gala performance in Washington the next day.
